Gary Lee Price - Create and Rejuvenate with Clay in Palm Courtyard
Gain insight into your inner creative resources using clay, relaxation, and the practice of "non-judgment." This customized workshop will gently guide you from the "head" to the "heart" of your creative spirit, easing any fears you may have about your abilities, or doubts because of years of being away from "artistic" creative endeavors. Insightful, fun, relaxing, nourishing, this workshop will give you a boost to your spirit.
Gary Lee Price sculptures capture this unique human spirit. This is the essence of his work. This is his life's journey.Literally, thousands of Gary Lee Price sculptures are in public and private collections throughout the world. One of the largest libraries in the world, the Hong Kong Central Library, is graced by the recent acquisition of twelve Gary Lee Price life-size bronze sculptures. This impressive display includes bronzes of intrigued young readers, happy children releasing doves, boys and girls playing with shells in water, some holding beautiful flowers, and others soaring through the air as though weightless. Additionally, two round frogs, "Puffed Up Princes," are stationed as sentinels at the entrance of the children's library.
Mike Elsass - No Fear Painting Experience in Palm Courtyard
He's known for his easy smile, laid-back attitude and, of course, for his vibrant abstract-on-rusted-steel paintings. Mike Elsass will be bringing his jokes and his painting know-how to Miraval for an outdoor workshop.
"It's a rush ahead of the brain: ready, fire, aim. You paint first and get introspective later." Elsass said. The participants will learn to use color, texture and paint 'in the moment.' They will paint several pieces, and take home a piece of artwork.
"Everyone puts on a white tuxedo shirt." Elsass said. "It's letting yourself go with no fear and no mistakes. That's really the way I paint."
This experience has a theme of "No Fear' in which the participants, through the use of color and texture free themselves to explore abstract art while being involved in a real studio experience. We discuss concepts like "brush ahead of the brain" & "act & react" while working on several pieces using a variety of color & tools.
